March 17, 2020-

Dear NAWBO Cbus Members,

As promised, we want to share the latest information related to COVID-19 with you.

Governor Mike DeWine has postponed Ohio’s primary election to Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Absentee voting will continue until that time.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has released information for small businesses and nonprofits to obtain low interest, 30-year loans to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disaster’s impact. The interest rate is 3.75% for small businesses without credit available elsewhere; businesses with credit available elsewhere are not eligible. The interest rate for nonprofits is 2.75%.

As you likely know, all restaurants and bars are open for carry out or delivery only. NAWBO Cbus has a few members in this industry and I know they would appreciate your support at this time. You can find them via the NAWBO member directory, HERE.

Lastly, if you offer business continuity coaching, please let me know. I was on a call this afternoon with officials from Franklin County and there is great need for this kind of information.

If you are offering resources during this time that your NAWBO sisters could benefit from, please let us know. We’ve created a resource page on our website HERE

Please let us know how we can support you during this unprecedented time.

Be well,

Dear Valued NAWBO Columbus Member,

Like you, we continue to monitor the evolving situation related to COVID-19. We are closely following the official information and guidance provided by the CDCOhio Department of Health and City of Columbus and we will cooperate fully with any restrictions placed on the types of gatherings and events we host.

Based on the information shared by Governor DeWine’s press conference on March 12th, we are postponing the April 9th Monthly Luncheon at The Boat House with Kimmi Wernli. We’ll make sure you get to hear from Kimmi at a later date.

Additionally, we will not be hosting Women, Wisdom & Wine as planned in April. We traditionally host this event focused on membership recruitment during our bi-annual membership drive. If you have friends and colleagues who should be a part of our community, now is a great time to join because:

  • All new NAWBO Columbus members who join between March 1 and April 30 will be entered in a drawing for a $100 Southwest Airlines gift card!
  • New members who join NAWBO during this time receive $45 off the one-time new member initiation fee in honor of our 45th anniversary.
  • The first 100 new members who join will receive $25 off registration for NAWBO Advocacy Day in honor of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

To Join go to: https://www.nawbo.org/membership

NAWBO Columbus will continue to serve as a trusted resource for you and your business. I’ve been in touch with the regional office for the Small Business Administration (SBA).  While we don’t have any specific details yet, we will share any information that comes from them related to potential economic relief for small business owners.

NAWBO Member, Sharon DeLay, GO-HR, has provided a great list of HR tips GO-HR Coronavirus update & ODH Order Re-Mass Gatherings. And, here is a helpful resource for developing a Business Continuity Plan. What steps will you need to take to recover from a pandemic?  Click here to learn more and “Ready Your Business”.

While events are critically important to our mission and for building community among our members, our top priority is to support all efforts to maintain the health, safety and well-being of our entire community. We will post further updates on our website.

As we navigate these unprecedented times, we are incredibly grateful for all the strong, dedicated women business owners like you. We’re focused on empowering you to overcome challenges, realize your true potential and make your mark on the world. This is certainly an unprecedented challenge that we are here to support you through.
