“Sheri has been able to bring two start-up companies to life because of her willingness to collaborate with community partners and stakeholders. While her leadership skills are self-evident, she is also willing and able to work as a team member—as an equal partner in various initiatives.”

SHERI CHANEY JONES, PRESIDENT, MEASUREMENT RESOURCES COMPANY, FOUNDER & CEO, SUREIMPACT AND AUTHOR OF IMPACT & EXCELLENCE

Sheri Chaney Jones is a social entrepreneur, who has helped government, non-profit organizations and social enterprises gather and use data to change actions, outcomes and lives for more than 16 years. Sheri is the founder of Measurement Resources Company, and co-founder and CEO of SureImpact, a cloud-based solution that helps social sector organizations and collective impact initiatives measure and communicate their unique social impact. An author and internationally recognized expert, she regularly keynotes conferences and events, where she speaks about high-performance measurement cultures, data-driven strategy and decision-making, and using data to attract more funding. Sheri is also the author of the award-winning book, Impact & Excellence: Data-driven Strategies for Aligning Mission, Culture, and Performance in Nonprofit and Government Organizations, published by Jossey-Bass in 2014.

As a nationally known organizational development and research firm, Measurement Resources Company has delivered data-driven services and strategies to government agencies, non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and collective impact initiatives, to accelerate social change since 2008. Measurement Resources has helped hundreds of social sector organizations isolate the metrics that most effectively reveal the insights needed to improve outcomes, demonstrate impact, increase visibility, and raise funds.
Measurement Resources provides research and community engagement, program and evaluation, community needs assessments, Impact Measurement FrameworksTM and strategic planning services. Additionally, Measurement Resources offers high-performance measurement professional development and technical assistance services to social sector leaders nationwide.

Launched in 2018, SureImpact, Inc. is a cloud-based solution that helps social sector organizations track, measure, and communicate their social impact. Over 450 organizations now use SureImpact, with hundreds more in the pipeline, including 100+ organizations in Columbus, and all nonprofits in New Mexico.

In late 2018, House Bill 494 was passed by the Ohio Legislature and signed into law by Governor Kasich. This bill contains language that will create the first-of-its-kind certification program for women business owners in Ohio. As VP of Public Policy, Sheri was instrumental in leading this effort on behalf of the NAWBO Columbus, which has resulted in the creation of a Women’s Enterprise Certification (WBE). Because there are states that require women-owned businesses to be certified in their “home state” to be eligible for the advantages those states provide, now more than 330,000 women-owned businesses across Ohio will have access to contracts and opportunities to scale their businesses in support of their families, community, and Ohio’s economy.

Sheri serves on the City of Columbus’ Women’s Commission, an advisory body to Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, which has helped to advance the economic well-being of women in our community. By dismantling barriers and reducing gender-based inequities to improve the economic position of women, the commission brings together policy experts, stakeholders, residents and neighbors, and business and non-profit communities to analyze issues impacting women and to make policy recommendations. These recommendations spur bold change by influencing and empowering community partners to take action.

In October 2019, Sheri led Measurement Resources’ team to publish an original research report, “Equitable Housing in Central Ohio: Redefining Affordability for All.” With a projected growth of one million more residents in Central Ohio by 2050, she saw the need to better understand the affordable housing issue through an equity and gender lens. This report highlights the realities and voices of residents most impacted by the lack of affordable housing. This report is available to the public, Measurement Resources convened two community conversations.
