Tell us about your business.

I have two companies La Ti Do Music Co. & Butterfly Journey.  La TI Do Music Co. specializes in a myriad of services that are customized for each entertainment/performing arts client (Music Recording, Brand Development, Voice Over, Commercial Writing, Live Sound and Public Relations).

With The Butterfly Journey Firm we provide Political & Judicial Campaign Management and several B2B services such as Strategy, Business Development, Programming. proposal writing, Brand Development, Virtual Conference Planning and more.  We help you “Grow, transform and Fly”.

What inspired you to get into your business?

For La Ti Do Music Co., it all started because I wanted to work on my first record. From there, it has taken off.

For Butterfly Journey, it all started when non-entertainment or performing arts clients needed assistance.  Therefore the Butterfly Journey Firm was born.

What are your three best practices or best tips that every NAWBO member needs to hear?

  1. Treat every client as if you were in their seat.
  2. Remember your worth and the value you bring to your clientele.
  3. Never give up. Flowers do not grow without rain. The rain is NECESSARY!

What does your future look like?

To be honest, I am not sure.   However, I am positive that the leap of faith I took to leave my full time employment to invest and believe in me, that there are no limits.

In the last five years, what new belief, behavior or habit has most improved your life?

Realizing the value that I bring to others! Sometimes, we get caught up in not thinking we are good enough.  As a minority business owner, feeling as you are not in that group or finding the blueprint and the resources may not always be there. So, you must constantly remind yourself, you are valuable, what you have to say and offer is needed at this very moment.  That if you do not, the list of people and or communities that will be missing out.

What purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months (or recent memory)?

My business license with the secretary of state.  This is when I knew I was serious about what my purpose on earth was.  I am reminded, why I am here and who is banking on me even though neither one of us even knows.

What is the book (or books) you’ve given most as a gift, and why?

I give the Life Application Study Bible and the Jesus Calling (By: Sarah Young) Devotional as a gift.  I give these books as they help me when dealing with challenges.

What has been your silver lining during the COVID-19 crisis?

Stay the course and adapt.

We hear a lot of business owners say that they have taken skills that they use in their business and applied them to help others during the pandemic. Have you? How so?

Yes, I have.  I have a strong background in systems.  I have helped several organizations navigate the world of Virtual Conference planning that is interactive and exciting for the facilitators and attendees.

What is some interesting news you would like to share with our NAWBO family?

Well under the Butter Journey Firm, last November we won our first race being a Franklin County race at that.  We had such an honor in serving Judge Stephanie Mingo, your Franklin County Environmental Court Judge.  This past July I was recently appointed to the Groveport Madison Schools Board of Education, click HERE for the article.  I am truly enjoying serving our families, teachers and community as whole. The biggest news is that I  have taken a leap of faith and now pursuing my business full time. So any tips from my NAWBO family, I would love to hear from you! Click HERE to reach out LaToya.
